Sanford & Sven— SS is probably your best bet for thrifted furniture in Williamsburg.  Doubling his business as a vintage furniture shop and moving company owner Sven Wechsler has got a good thing going on.  TODAY you can expect a 10% discount. Sanford and Sven 106 N. 3rd St. (at Berry St.) (718) 487-9806 Tue-Sun 12pm-7:30pm.
When/ why did you open your store or more specifically (and pensively), when did you know vintage was your calling?
I was running a moving company, and people kept giving my furniture and things they didn’t want to take to their new home, so I decided to start selling
it in my warehouse. I soon realized that most of what they gave away was junk, so I needed to fill my shop.  I went to estate sales and auctions and
developed an idea of what people in the area were looking for that wasn’t being offered at other local shops.
What would you say is your store’s aesthetic?  do you tend to stick to a specific decade or theme?
I mostly have Depression era to 1970’s. Honestly, it largely has to do with what people who are passing on today have in their homes.
I like to keep it eclectic and stay mostly away from the standard Mid Mod stuff.  There’s enough of that in Williamsburg. If it’s funky or slightly “ironic”,
that seems to do well. I get a lot of cinema, television and theater production designers looking to fill sets.

When/ why did you open your store or more specifically (and pensively), when did you know vintage was your calling?

About Glamour was launched 2003. I have liked vintage clothing before starting this business and will keep liking it. I love to wear something that nobody else is wearing. There is no doubt that I will keep liking and wearing vintage clothing for many years to come. About Glamour suggests unique vintage clothing from the outside of the US for the customers who want to be different!

What would you say is your store’s aesthetic?  do you tend to stick to a specific decade or theme?

No. Theme always changes. We are ahead of the trend.

What kind of discount/promotion will you be providing for Vintage Crawlers on October 16th?

We will offer a 10% discount from regular priced items only for Vintage Crawlers

What are your favorite pieces in the shop at the moment & why?

I say Pierre Cardin 1960`s green two-piece because this piece is simply rare and deserved to be in museum.

Seven Wonders Vintage: Feels like back-to-school shopping all over again!

Seven Wonders Vintage: Feels like back-to-school shopping all over again!

Seven Wonders Vintage - Miss Melissa Blumberg took that leap-of-faith in opening her vintage shop only a handful of months ago and boy did it pay off!  She has such an eye for both Men’s and Women’s clothing and always adds a bit of Southwestern & Floridian flair with impeccably pick’d accessories to-boot.  Seven Wonders Vintage  606 Manhattan Ave (954) 609-2403 Mon-Fri 1pm-8pm; Sat-Sun 12pm-8pm

When/ why did you open your store or more specifically (and pensively), when did you know vintage was your calling?

Seven Wonders opened in the middle of March this year.  I think I have always known vintage was my calling, I just didn’t realize it could be a real job.  I’ve always loved the idea of treasure and finding clothes that people have abandoned has always felt like treasure to me.  Thrifting became important to me as a young teen because I went to a private school with a uniform and expressing myself through style wasn’t possible.  I found myself scouring thrift stores in Florida to find other private school uniform shirts and I’d wear them.  I worked in vintage stores in college and after I graduated I continued to collect all the great pieces I found with the hopes that someday I’d be able to open Seven Wonders.

What would you say is your store’s aesthetic?  do you tend to stick to a specific decade or theme?

The store has a southwestern vibe but you can also find extrememly cutsie to preppy stuff here because I’m obsessed with animals on clothes, especially horses, so I always have bunch of that kind of thing.  I don’t stick to a certain decade but I do try and mirror what I see is currently trendy.  The store doesn’t feel like it’s filled with old stuff as much as unique pieces that are getting the chance at a fresh start.

What kind of discount/promotion will you be providing for Vintage Crawlers on October 16th?

20% Off everything except the outdoor rack which is already a very good deal.  Serving mimosas til we’re out!
